My Wedding Suit by Suit Supply & Shoes by Clarks

I don’t have the most conventional body shape, shirts are usually either too short in the body and arms, or a tent on me so top of my list of wants for my recent wedding was a made to measure suit for the big day.  Unfortunately I don’t have the budget for a Saville Row original and thought I would again end up either uncomfortable or look scruffy.

It was then I discovered SuitSupply in Westfield shopping centre, I popped in just to look at their off the shelf range and within 5 minutes I was booked in for an appointment with their tailor later that day. No SuitSupply don’t do bespoke suits but made to measure, in that they take one of there set patterns and fit you in the closest matched jacket, trousers, waistcoat and shirt. This is then adjusted to the best fit for you body, e.g. take in waist, let out sleeves etc. You then choose the fabric you want, the lining you want, the style, the button….everything about the suit. I even got to choose a monogram to go inside my suit pocket and on the shirt cuff. It is worth mentioning that this is where SuitSupply excel over other budget suit companies, the fabric is amazing high quality italian fabrics, the same kind used is high end suits. These adjustments and choices get sent to their factories in China, where professional tailors build a new suit for you. The whole process should take around 5 weeks but mine took longer due to Chinese new year and a mix up with the trouser size (the built off a pattern one size too small), but this was rectified and a new pair of trousers was made in 3 weeks for me. I was amazed with my suit which fits better than any item of clothing I have ever had and all for around £650 including a bespoke shirt.

I teamed the suit with a pair of brown brogues from Clarks which were stylish as well as comfortable, a red tie from TM Lewis, red socks from Marks and Spencers and best of all my present from my bride. My amazing Tissot Visodate watch, this fully automatic sapphire crystal beauty will be reviewed in detail in a future post.
